Speciality Breads on the radio

One year on from the Olympics, our MD Peter Millen had a chat with BBC Radio Kent on 19th June about how we’ve fared since the big event, when we supplied the event’s contract caterer Aramark with breads.

Our products were eaten by the athletes, VIPs and officials at Olympic Villages in Stratford, Weymouth and Dorney, and we were tremendously proud to be involved. Because we were sworn to secrecy about our Olympic contract, the growth we’ve seen has been down to everyone’s hard work and dedication rather than any reflected Olympic glory. But business is looking good and we hope people will eventually realise the part we played in the event.

You can hear Peter in action here.

Everything you Knead to Know about real bread

The Real Bread Campaign’s Chris Young has announced a treat for everyone involved in microbakeries, community supported bakeries and small real bread enterprises. We’re delighted about the release of the print version of the campaign’s excellent book, Knead to Know. We love the .pdf but there’s something special about real, live printed books and we can’t wait to get our floury mitts on a copy.

According to Chris the recent Real Bread Maker Week went down a storm, with large numbers of bread devotees getting involved, spreading the good word and raising money for the cause. It just goes to show how the whole real bread scene is thriving, with more home bakers getting on board and existing bakers stuffed to the crust with new customers.

What’s next? Look out for the Real Bread Campaign’s Local Loaves for Lammas and Sourdough September events.
